The presentation will focus on providing an overview of the attorney professionalism standards as it relates to Alternative Dispute Resolutions and a meaningful practice that considers professional standards of both the lawyer and the Mediator. First, it will highlight the current relevant rules of attorney professionalism and Mediator Ethics opinions. Second, it will share specific real-life scenarios where mediators have been disciplined for their unprofessional conduct. The third and last segment will be an interactive thought-provoking discussion, building on the other two sections, using various scenarios to analyze how the professional standards interact with the discipline sanctions. The participants will gain a broad understanding of how the professional rules apply to the every day practice of law and to alternative legal disputes.
