Based on an article in the Florida Bar Journal of the same name, this course explores innovative approaches to legal writing by incorporating narrative techniques traditionally used in fiction to enhance the presentation of facts in legal documents. Participants will learn how to transform a standard statement of facts into a compelling narrative that captivates and persuades.

As a result of attending this session, the learner will be better able to:

1. Understand the roles of character, conflict, and resolution in crafting persuasive factual statements;
2. Cultivate techniques for establishing narrative distance and maintaining a consistent perspective to enhance the impact of storytelling in legal argument;
3. Craft effective point headings that advance the argument succinctly and powerfully;
4. Structure legal documents using the principles of composition to improve readability and engagement.
