EFFICIENT EDISCOVERY STRATEGIES With the recent amendments to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and the publication of the 2024 Florida Civil Discovery Handbook, the management of electronically stored information (ESI) in litigation has become a critical competency for Florida lawyers. This session offers a comprehensive guide to
efficient and compliant eDiscovery practices in both state and federal court matters. Attendees will explore key rule changes, emerging case law, and the impact of proportionality, metadata preservation, and ethical obligations on the discovery process. Practical insights will be shared on implementing litigation holds, negotiating ESI protocols, and navigating production format disputes, all within the framework of recent Florida and federal decisions.
In addition to legal doctrine, the session emphasizes the strategic use of advanced eDiscovery platforms—such as Relativity, Logikcull, and Everlaw—to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and improve accuracy in document review and production. Special attention will be given to mobile device data, cloudbased collaboration tools, and common challenges in handling cross-border and multi-jurisdictional discovery. Whether representing plaintiffs or defendants, attendees will leave equipped with actionable strategies to meet judicial expectations, minimize risk of sanctions, and fulfill their professional obligations in today’s complex digital litigation environment.
